An introduction: Who are you???
I'm Terri Lee, a 2D and 3D artist from Toronto, now based in New York City. I'm currently pursuing a bachelors at Parsons in Design and Technology (Game Design), and minoring in Psychology.
My life has been full of making art in my spare time and education as far back as I remember, which has given me an extensive background in many traditional media.
With my foundation in art, I ventured several realms of money-making over the years as an artist: doing character illustration commissions(DnD, furries, OCs), tabling at anime and comic conventions, private critique sessions, and teaching at a portfolio studio. Teaching really struck a chord with me. I'd want to have a future where I teach as a profession at some point.
Well, as I continued to create, I inched towards digital art, and found footing in the entertainment design community. In some way, becoming a (character?) concept artist has become a big part in my vision of my dream life as an artist.
In this all, I still haven't forgotten the stacks of newsprint pads, sketchbooks, and canvases that sit in a corner of my room. Sometimes I flip through my collection, surprising myself by the joy I have in depicting the human form. Having the time to exercise my art in traditional media is a part of my ideal dream life as an artist as well.
In much of my art and studies, I find a pattern of exploring the human form and psyche. Perhaps because of my exasperation with digital mediums as of late, or its relevancy, I have become interested in the dynamic between human nature and digital technologies. This has mostly extended my interest in concept art of cyberpunk worlds, dystopian worlds, tech-y prop designs, futuristic fantasies, and character designs in such fantastical worlds.
Here are some artworks I like:
I like edgy designs and themes, and explorations of inhabiting/experiencing the human body and mind. I always want my work to have an aura of epic coolness. Haha.
But when I think and feel deeply, I want my art to evoke a self-reflection of some kind, for the viewer to explore their mannerisms in their theory of mind (the psychology/philosophy idea).
Here are some of my works:
These designs are a part of my world building project, one which encapsulates a lot of my interests in many ways- in ways I find difficulty in explaining concisely. The themes in the storyline are of: religion, birth, duty/moral duty, Rot/Decay/Cycle of Life, the human/inhuman, empathy/corruption. This world is one of my more in-depth personal projects to date, which I started slowly building in summer of 2025, and in some class projects.
These couple of paintings done in 2023/2024 were for classes I took in freshman year. They are semi-self-portraits, of a gruesome, grotesque, spiritual, independent experience in undoing and finding oneself. I had so much fun in, kind of, just painting what I felt like, and felt a bit proud in expressing myself freely in my first year at Parsons.
I doodled quite a bit before college, and posted my sketches on Instagram. I did these drawings for fun in February of 2023. The idea that other artists could enjoy seeing the art I drew for my own enjoyment is something I am proud of.
